Can taxonomy be added to field on a per file basis in a node. This would allow looking at all files of an "attachment taxonomy" or grouping them within a node or site wide in reference list etc.

I've written a module which does this if anyone's interested. It still needs a proper settings form and currently only supports single select flat hierachys (but should be easy enough to extend).

It basically just provides views support, but you could add the ability to set node taxonomy through it quite easily. Not sure what other features would be needed?
