Jackinloadup commentedHi xiaoruoruo,
After enabling this module files become "field-able" and you can add a text field to the file types at admin/structure/file-types. That text field could be called "Comments".
Also if you use the latest Media-2.x-dev version (>=July 26th 2012) it contains #1426730: Automatically open the file edit modal after uploading a file which will allow your users edit that comment right after adding the file.
I'm closing this issue. Please reopen if I didn't address your question / request.

xiaoruoruo commentedHi Lucas,
Thanks for your suggestion. I know this works. Just that it seems weird that comment is not a first-class citizen here. For example,
I have read that file entity may become a core module in Drupal 8. But it would also be great if this could be implemented in Drupal 7. I know some programming, maybe I could help with something, if provided some advice on how to get started.
Cheers

Jarode commentedHi Jackinloadup,
We don't need a field where the user can put in some text to describe the uploaded file.
We need a comment system , the same that is currently available for node entity.
Thanks

dave reidUnfortunately there is nothing that we should support for comments in file_entity for Drupal 7. You may need to look into some kind of other contrib solution that allows comments to be added as a field to any entity in Drupal 7.
