Field groups are working fine on the Manage Fields form but not showing up on the Manage Display form for my content type. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Field groups on display need to be created separately. You have fieldgroups for fields and fieldgroups for display.
So when you create a fieldgroup on the form settings, this fieldgroup won't be visible at display settings (and vice versa).
