Let feed item inherit taxonomy of the feed

Problem/Motivation

I installed and configured the feed module. Everything works fine, but by using the feeds news sub module I tried to arrange the following: There are two taxonomy terms of which my feeds are categorized in [f.e. 1.) persons & 2.) organisations] . The imported feed items should inherit those terms, that means the term of the feed as a node type (not the content of the feed per se).

I think this should be possible but I cannot find a solution. I am sure it's pretty easy and I just overlook a tiny setting issue. All I can find (and what works) is grabbing the taxonomy terms of the parsed content. But that's not what I want.

What I did so far: I set up a field on each content type, i.e. feed and feed item, relating to the same vocabulary.
