It would be amazing to have this module also integrated with Feed Element Mapper so you can map an Image URL in a feed or csv file manually to a CCK imagefield and then apply imagecache to it. Currently this seems to automatically take the img enclosure from a feed and automatically do it.
But if you could map a URL to the image field it opens up all sorts of cool possibilities.
Would it even be easy to adopt this to a new Imagecache module for pulling in external images from a URL? This is a highly desired module.
Just thinking out loud....

publicmind commentedHi,
"you can map an Image URL in a feed "
That's the problem Mark, the Image we are looking for (i.e. attaching with the node) isn't in the feed that is published by the site. Otherwise, there had been no need for a grabber. ImageGrabber visits the feed_item original_url and then downloads an image.
FeedAPI Mapper can be used to map the elements present in the feed but unfortunately this image is not at all there in the feed.
"But if you could map a URL to the image field it opens up all sorts of cool possibilities."..
Ohh, man if someone can do that it would be a revolution. May be we should put this in the feature list of the imagefield module. What say?

parrottvision commentedAh, Yes! Of course, which makes this module even cooler than I thought. But yes, perhaps I should add external image support as a feature request to imagecache, I did think this was on the way somewhere but can't find it. Thanks!

publicmind commentedHi,
Imagefield will be the right place for it (and not imagecache), I guess so.
Anyway, if you are using feedapi imagegrabber, then you might be interested in its next release which is going out tomorrow. because it won't annoy you by getting the images from the sidebar or the advertisements.
Thanks
