When you export a Feature, it sets the package in the featurename.info.yml to the Feature's bundle. If your namespace/bundle has a lot of different parts, you may want to split these into different packages, for sorting / ease of viewing on the module list page.

A package for custom content types, a package for API-related features, a package for migrations, etc., all still with the same Features bundle.

Proposed Resolution:
If there were an optional field at the /admin/config/development/features/edit/featurename page, maybe right under the bundle assignment, Features would then have a way to keep track of package assignments without reverting back to package: bundle every time the feature is exported. If the field is left blank, functions as normal.

I see the point, but given we haven't seen other requests, this is a level of complexity that's probably not a sufficient priority.
