Is there a way to set the base path, so that when I'm creating a link to an internal page I don't have to type the fully qualified URL.

/content/page1 instead of Mydomain.com/content/page1

Makes the pages portable also from dev to production.

I think that is difficult to achieve. You could take a look at the pathologic module. Do you think that is sufficient?
