I upgraded from -rc1 to -rc3, and its totally broken, i don't get any fck editor and all edit boxes are plain text windows, some are badly sized. -rc1 was working great.

note, I'm using Postgresql 8.3 ... when I upgraded, update.php said there was a v4 of FCKeditor, but when I let it run, it said there were no databases changes.

now I did NOT wipe the site/all/modules/fckeditor directory, I just untarred the new files over the old, is that a problem here?

This is probably a duplicate of #322941: fckeditor upgrade from 6.x-1.3-rc2 to 6.x-13-rc2 won't display.
I did manage to upgrade form RC1 to RC3 and get FCKeditor broken, using IE6 and having in browser settings "Check for New Versions of Stored Pages" set to "Every time you start Internet Explorer" and "Automatically".
Check the ticket I mentioned at the beginning for instructions and let me know if it worked out for you.
