I'd like to add some descriptive information under the fckeditor window without hacking the module. How might I call hook_form_alter to add a #description element in a custom module to accomplish this, submit a patch to the project to accomplish the same thing, or is there another way to do this? Any help would be fantastic. Thanks.

if you want to do it only on a few instances of the FCKeditor then hook_form_alter will work (for example all node forms), otherwise you will need to make a custom hook_elements that adds the text for you
