Hey guys, I seem to be running into a login redirect problem on a Drupal 5 site I'm trying to add Facebook Connect functionality to. I've read the README.txt from start to end multiple times, applied a patch to the common.inc file mentioned in another redirection issue and still, anytime I try to log in via the FB connect button, the login popup appears, I enter my credentials then after a bit of waiting I get an error in the popup saying:
The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
* This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
cookies.The url for the popup when the error happens is suddenly:
http://dev2.changents.com/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_cb/52821/fb_connect/receiver?fb_login=&fname=_opener&guid=0.18528791211076834&session={%22session_key%22%3A%223.w2ep19hD_zSAuQRMfvLK8Q__.86400.1261512000-1392158343%22%2C%22uid%22%3A%221392158343%22%2C%22expires%22%3A1261512000%2C%22secret%22%3A%22vhnp_invJfcOjlnLsFAZyg__%22%2C%22sig%22%3A%2260b6d709d2329a6e6a8709ae1ff57fe0%22}
One of the weird things is that the authentication is actually happening, which is apparent because if I refresh the page it now sees me as connected and logged into facebook despite the redirection errors, I'm not sure if this points to an issue with the callback post authentication or what. Also I had temporarily set it to generate a local user account and it was doing this fine as well despite the redirection errors. I've since disabled that in hopes of stripping it down to the very basics of Facebook Connect and getting that working.
I've enabled the devel modules and placed the blocks but not much seems to be coming out of them as far as whats happening in the login popup.
Not sure if it helps but the site is: http://dev2.changents.com/login_join in case you wanted to see exactly what was going on.
I'd be very thankful for any help I could get on resolving this issue! Also, I understand that the Drupal 6 version of this module is the suggested version, so I'm not expecting anyone to whip up a patch or anything but even the smallest bit of guidance on somethings to look at to resolve this in Drupal 5 would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if any additional info is needed to trouble shoot this!
Thanks in advance for any help!

Dave Cohen commentedYou should see something like fb_cb/52821 pre-pended to the URL, but only once. In your case its getting prepended over and over.
This rings a bell for me. I think the same problem was solved in the 6.x branch. But I can't at the moment recall exactly what the issue was.
You're much better off using 6.x branch if at all possible.

scoorch commentedI have read the readme from top to bottom.
I am having a similar problem with the most uptodate fb module for drupal 6.
The FF Error is:
"The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."
Third parties cookies are accepted by the browser. The same problem occurs in other browsers like Opera, Safari or IE.
the URL is:
http://localhost/np/fb_cb/4423/fb_connect/receiver?fb_login=&fname=_open...{%22session_key%22%3A%223.UblxOIQW_wpjUL0wtA9fvQ__.86400.1262682000-100000542624456%22%2C%22uid%22%3A100000542624456%2C%22expires%22%3A1262682000%2C%22secret%22%3A%22f2eZojE8rTnVJLQlbrhmpg__%22%2C%22sig%22%3A%22b953fb6228787692f01459f8b3fb7d5e%22}
If have followed the installation instructions precisely and use the fb connect login block. I am an experienced drupal programmer so please do not regard this as a dummy request ;-)

scoorch commentedJust found out that the global redirect modules causes the loop in my case. Trying to fix that module so that it works with fb
Quick and dirty solution:
In globalredirect.module at the very beginning of the funciton globalredirect_init() insert the following lines:

Dave Cohen commented@scoorch, don't expect any facebook features to work with urls like http://localhost/... You need a domain which can be reached from facebook's servers.
And please don't hijack issues. Submit a new one for a new problem.

stieglitz commentedScorch is right on. I have been struggling with this for months and once the script was added to the global redirect module everything works great! Great module Dave thx.

Dave Cohen commentedThis sounds like a problem with the global redirect module, right?
