When I had the 7.x-1.18 version installed, update manager kept reporting it as out of date despite 7.x-1.18 being the latest relaease version. I upgraded to 7.x-1.x-dev and still have the same problem.

Have checked the entry in my system database; module is not duplicated in my install and all parameters match.

I suggest you report it as a bug in Drupal Core and not in extlink.
