I use Exifer and Irfanview to insert Exif data. Drupal Exif module displays ascii strings with the last character removed. Exifer, Irfanview and Opanda IExif all show the image file on the site to have the full strings. Fields I have experienced this on are Description, Artist and Caption. But not Copyright which is followed by "(Photographer)" or "(Editor)" in the Drupal Exif display.
Can anyone help, please.

This problem doesn't occur in 6.x-1.x. This is possibly because it is a PEL issue as David suggests above. This thread can probably be closed.

This is fixed in newer version. And a very old issue.
