I would like to do an sql query to select the next 3 upcoming events, nearest first, and then print the event title, event date and a short snippet of the event description.

Can someone throw me some code to point me in the right direction please?

You could probably do that with a View.

Thats just what I would try but im using 6.2 and event views is not working yet.
