I've been using this module with media entities for several D8 websites I've created recently, and the next projects I'll be working on will make extensive use of embed and entity_embed.

Looking at the last updates, and regarding https://www.drupal.org/project/entity_embed/issues/2577891 which seems blocked (technically or by lack of time of the maintainers), I'd like to offer some time to work on the issue queue and maybe reboot a roadmap with a few co-maintainers if anyone also enjoys this module.

Please let us know whether it's useful to dedicate time to this module :)

Nothing is stopping you from helping to triage the issue queue and write & review patches today — nobody's approval is necessary for that! :) I started doing that two weeks ago, and the maintainers have been happy with that:
