I have freshly installed Entity Browser 1.3 on Drupal 8.4 and when trying to adding an Upload Image widget, I get a HTTP 500 response from the AJAX call.

Is the Upload Image widget another module I need to install?

Confirming this. Receiving the same issue. I'm investigating - will follow up if I find anything.

Had the same issue and found the problem :
It occurs when adding an upload widget with Dropzone + Dropzone 2.0 and Entity Media modules installed.
I you are not using core's Media, you should use Dropzone 1.x to get it work.
