Would greatly appreciate help on this, as I am workingon this right now.

Please go to admin/reports/status and tell me what shows up under Embedded Media Field.

Thanks,

Should I add http://drupal.org/project/media_youtube ? Which version? I had initially installed 6.x-2.2 and that did not worked, so I upgraded to 6.x-2.3, as mentioned initially.

yes, please install the latest version of media: youtube (assuming that's the provider you want). you can also find other supported providers at the embedded media field project page.
