ph0enix commentedDo you using it within WYSIWYG editor? If so which module (wysywyg, ckeditor, etc), editor version? Just successful inserted link and image from wysywyg dev module integration using latest CKEditor 4. Please make sure that you have removed old elFinder libraries.

mmitchell816 commentedMissed your update. This site is using CKEditor 4.4.1 and elFinder 2.1.48. The issue only happens with files like PDF's but is fine with images and such.
In CKEditor you select the Hyperlink icon and then change the link type to URL and click "Browser Server" you can take two paths:
1. Double click the file and you will get the reported error.
2. RIght click the file and select "Get Info" you can then copy the link URL in the popup. You can then close elFinder and past this valid link into the URL field. This shows that elFinder is able to make the proper URL, just selecting the file doesn't seam to work.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

ph0enix commentedJust successful was able to place pdf link picked from elfinder in ckeditor 4.6 on D7 7.70 in latest build. Tried both ckeditor and ckeditor in wysiwyg, no issues. I tested with latest elfinder 2.1.56 library.
