I have a store currently set up that I have no payment options enabled for. This is the way it needs to be for now. When you go through the purchasing process everything works correctly and when you submit the order it goes into the transaction queue as it should.
The problem is that neither the store admin, or the customer ever get an e-mail that tells them about the order.
I think I've overcome all the other issues that I've come up against while developing this site. This is the last one. I need this to work as it's set up for now.
The customer should get an e-mail outlining their order and whatever other text I put into it, and the admin should get an e-mail too. I don't even care if it's just a BCC of what the customer gets. They just need to know that a new order is waiting to be processed.
Can someone help with this?
Thanks,
David

tknospdr commentedAlright, this was solved via IRC (thanks gordon) I enabled the COD option and now the cust receives an e-mail as they should; however, it seems that quite a few of the other e-mails still aren't working correctly. I'm going to put down as list of them as they seem to work/not work now and would appreciate it if others can confirm or rebuke the entries.
Order Confirmation e-mail works but the transaction notice to the site admin doesn't.
Under transaction 'workflow':
Shipping notify doesn't send an e-mail.
Ask a question DOES send an e-mail but stays on the email screen and doesn't change the workflow even when you click the box to do so.
Cancel transaction send it's e-mail but also stays on it's e-mail screen and doesn't update the workflow either.
I'm thinking that the last two there should go back to the transaction screen after processing.
Thanks,
David

kemayo commentedI can confirm that sending shipping notifications doesn't work for me.

tknospdr commentedWill your patch fix all of the problems I've described here?
tknospdr commentedOkay, I ran your patch. It fixed a few things but some stuff is still missing.
Shipping notify is unchanged.
Ask question changes workflow and goes back to transaction screen.
So I still need a fix for shipping notify to send it's e-mail.
And the store admin still isn't getting notified of new orders in the queue.
Thanks,
David

shebrings commentedI'm having a similar problem -- no notification emails are being sent out when an order is completed. The administrator receives no notification of the order and the customer does not receive a notification or even an invoice. Email notifications are enabled. Did you have any luck with your problems?

tknospdr commentedJust what I've already posted. This no e-mail thing is really getting me in hot water with my client too.
Thanks,
David

AstralP commentedDon't know if it helps but I've just wasted a day trying to get paypal working and in the end the culprit was badbehaviour, as soon as it was disabled everything worked as expected. Thought it was worth a mention.

jeff veit commentedThe transaction notices to admin on orders don't work how you think they do. It's probably because the admin interface is misleading. It's not designed to send a note to the admin when there's a new order. It's designed to regularly send a list of the statuses to the admin. If I recall correctly, it's triggered by an order going to completion status - you'd have to check the code to be sure.
As it happens, I'm about to contribute a module that sends mail to the admin whenever there's a new order. There's one problem with it that can't be solved with EC3: it can't tell the admin the transaction id. This can be solved if you are prepared to patch your EC3 to add 3 or 4 lines of code that are already in EC.
Module is called SaleMail. Project for it should be in drupal.org by now, but there isn't a package there yet. If you contact me, I'll send it to you.
Caveat is that this has not been used in a live site, so your client would an alpha tester.

wvd_vegt commentedHi,
Could you send me a copy of the salesmail module too?
smoothstr@drupal.org commentedI've just added the initial version of SaleMail to CVS. It would be great if people would download it from CVS and test it before I package it.
The install info says that it's for Drupal 4.7. It will work just as well for Drupal 5.2: it's built for EC3.
It should work with the alpha of EC4 too. And with one small change should include the transaction ID: follow the second part of the README instructions to patch EC3 - you only need to make the post_process change.
Please give feedback through the Issues for the module.
Thanks.

gordon commentedThis has been fixed in v4.
One of the main changes is that the completion status now sends initiates the sending of the email and not the payment gateway, as in v3
This is now possible to back port as it is such a large change to the system.
