I get this error when I try to install via aegir:

Exception Object ( [message:protected] => Cache system: Not working The Echo module requires a working cache system.

Maybe this can be placed in documentation

I also get this, the database becomes outdated in the status report, cache is "not working" and "The Echo module requires a working cache system".

I also just got the error

The Echo module requires a working cache system. (Currently using Cache system Not working)

I remembered though that I had created a fake cache as per guide here

Disabling / removing that solved it for me :)
