To update an existing profile for a site, one has to remove profile with --dslm-remove-profile and then re-add it with dslm-add-profile. It would be nice to be able to do this with one command by supplying a --switch-profile argument.

This is slightly trickier than it might seem. It should be stated that you can pass --upgrade when doing a dslm-add-profile if you are simply changing the version number of a profile. Switching a profile is something that Drupal itself doesn't handle all that well. On top of that, it is technically possible to have more than one dslm-profile attached to a single site's codebase. DSLM would either have to prompt for which profile to switch or the command would require two arguments, the profile switching from and the profile switching to.

With all that said, patches are welcome. I think it's a reasonable idea, just have to make sure all the possibilities described above are accounted for.

I opened #2456491: Add Drush Support. I think it makes more sense to add drush support to profile_switcher than bake all of the code required to successfully switch profiles into dslm.
