I've tried different field formatting and it doesn't change it. Some CCK fields simply don't display using DS. All fields were working fine without DS. Only a couple fields will display, and I've double checked that the data didn't disappear. If I edit the node the fields are there and data is filled in. It just wont' display. Not sure if there's a setting or if I'm doing something wrong. The first content type I set up worked perfectly - I tried comparing the way I set it up and can't find any differences.

rolfmeijer commentedI have the same, but as a lot of modules are involved, I’m not sure Display Suite is the culprit, though.
In my case it involves (at least):
• Drupal Core 6.20
• CCK 2.8
• Link 2.9
• Display Suite 1.4
• Node Display 2.4
• Internationalization 1.7
I will try to get some grip on this by eliminating modules. When I find something I will let you know (hopefully soon ;-) ).

LudachrisGSX commentedJust FYI - I finally found a discussion taking place where this happened to someone else. Their solution was to create a new Group and move all the fields over to that new group. I tried it and it worked. Seems that Node Display CCK doesn't like existing groups, but will work okay when new groups are created. Give that a try and see if it works for you.
I'm now just having issues with Embedded Link fields - they're displaying even when they're empty.

swentel commentedCan't really reproduce this so far, unless it's about Organic groups which needs it's own implementation, see #800862: Create ND OG integration.
Could also be a racing condition, see http://drupal.org/node/572614
