I'd like to display the content of a referenced node on a page (possibly similar to "How to display fields from a referenced node (D6)").

The content of the referenced node can appear on multiple pages, so in fact I'm looking for a way to get certain nodes displayed without the client having to write them over and over again for every page. I've already installed Nodes in block and configured it as such it could already be doing what I'm after.

After watching the screencast about Display Suite however, I was left with the impression that this could be made more user friendly with the Display Suite module. Ofcourse, there's no Node Reference module for Drupal 7, and the modules References and Relation don't really seem to fit in Display Suite.

So I wonder if

  • it's possible to let a client choose a earlier created node that would appear on the right (in a region or in a block) through Display Suite
  • Nodes in block would be more user friendly for the client after all, instead of Display Suite.

I've attached an image to this post to illustrate what I'm after. What do you think would be the best practice for this?

You can show fields on the right region (with the region to block plugin), however, not on multiple pages, so for that use case Nodes in block is actually better.

Why is this closed and marked fixed? I'm using Drupal 7 and have have EVA (node references) working fine without DS. I need to use DS to modify the Full and Teasers and when I enable, the node reference field/link is gone? Also the reference node content is gone when I use DS.

I'm trying to make a company directory where 1 node type has the company info and the other node type has information about the people working there. I have a nodereference field in the people content type that holds a node reference to the company they belong two. I have a an entity content view that allows me to show the people on the company page. I need to reformat the company page and when I use DS everything but the company info disappears.

Any thoughts?
