Am trying to override taxonomy term page using a view showing fields and tid as the argument. I setup a page display on path taxonomy/term/%. When I go to add a views display.. it creates the display but I see only the title field and no other components of the view are available.
Navigating to the term page I get the following notice.
Notice: Undefined index: content in ds_entity_variables() (line 530 of /Volumes/Data/Users/vinsab/Sites/feral3/sites/all/modules/ds/ds.module)
When I try to delete the views display I created, I get:
PDOException: SQLSTATE[42S02]: Base table or view not found: 1146 Table 'feral3.ds_layouts' doesn't exist: DELETE FROM {ds_layouts} WHERE (bundle = :db_condition_placeholder_0) ; Array ( [:db_condition_placeholder_0] => test-page_1 ) in ds_extras_vd_bundle_remove_submit() (line 189 of /Volumes/Data/Users/vinsab/Sites/feral3/sites/all/modules/ds/modules/ds_extras/ds_extras.vd.inc)
I am using the rc-1 release of DS and:
ctools 7.x-1.0-alpha2
fieldgroup 7.x-1.0-rc1
views 7.x-3.0-alpha1
should I be working with the dev releases of these modules ?

swentel commentedThe table ds_layouts is gone in rc1, you'll have to deinstall completely (tables need to be gone too) and reinstall the module, one of the cons of using bleeding edge modules :) After that, that table problem will be gone.

vinsabus commentedThanks for your prompt reply.. I just double checked, I made a fresh drupal 7 install using standard configurations and freshly installed all the required modules.. and I am getting exactly the same errors.
swentel commentedOh crap, I read wrong, sorry. You're right, I left one reference to an old table, my bad. Patch attached should fix it, already committed to dev.
swentel commentedBtw, you need to select a layout first to get all the other fields - We're looking in help texts and documentation to make that clearer.

vinsabus commentedThanks.. will try it with the patch. I did select the 2 col layout but still it showed only title as a field to drag around.. when I was working with the alpha 2 release I used to get a whole list of views parameters including header attachments etc to put into different regions as you demonstrated in your video
Views displays for Drupal 7

swentel commentedAh yes, that was broken in rc1 and fixed in dev with this commit: http://drupalcode.org/project/ds.git/commit/a2ff8ab03d981c92cfe086ce04a4... So, a dev version with this patch will make everything work (and will of course be fixed in the next release)

vinsabus commentedThanks a ton! It works perfectly now after applying the patch to the latest dev. This module is really fantastic! Do let me know if I can be of any assistance, unfortunately I can't be much help in the php zone but if there is anything i can do maybe help on documentation etc do let me know.

vinsabus commentedI found that even without creating a views display it is possible to override the taxonomy term page. I create a view with an argument for tid and add a page display with the path taxonomy/term/% like before, but this time use a 'row style' of display suite and select 'Taxonomy Term Page' as default view mode. Then I can select and place fields into the various regions on the manage display section for the vocabulary.
This is working fine except for the 'Title' field. If I place the title field into a region I get the following error:
Fatal error: Function name must be a string in /Volumes/Data/Users/vinsab/Sites/feral2/sites/all/modules/ds/ds.module on line 363With node displays and user display, I get a title automatically without having to use the title field in the display, but here since I'm using views to generate the page I suppose views needs to generate the title for the page, but I would think I should still be able to use the title field in the manage displays ? or am I doing something drastically wrong with this approach ?
I am using the latest dev version of DS from March 2nd

swentel commentedLooks like I missed one small key in the title definition of the taxonomy term. Patch is attached and committed, should fix that fatal error (you'll probably will have to clear the cache first, so the system knows the updated version of that title field)

vinsabus commentedThanks again swental, worked perfectly.
The following is more a feature request than anything else, I am assuming DS works for taxonomy term displays only if one overrides them in views i.e. the path needs to be overridden before it takes effect. (As of now, when I create custom fields for a vocabulary, they showup in the manage display settings page but customizing the layout and putting them in regions has no effect and I see the default taxonomy term page.. ie title and a listing of nodes with links).
Would it be possible for DS to take over the path (like it currently does for node and user displays) and perhaps expose the default node listing as a 'field' to drop into the various regions (or disable) ? One could then place any custom fields from the vocabulary too and resort to views only for customizing the listing of nodes. This is probably easier said than done.. but just thought I would put it out there for you to consider.
