drummImplementing recurring events well can get very complicated quickly. And recurring events are often rescheduled due to holidays/etc anyway. I'd rather see an event organizer put in a few extra minutes monthly, than forget to update an automatically rescheduled event, and have attendees there at the wrong time.
We are on Drupal 7, and will be upgrading soon enough. I expect/hope there are better contrib modules for this in D9 & later. We would need them regardless, to avoid a regression. If we did do this on D7, it would add another thing to migrate.
The effort required doesn't make this at all a good idea to even consider implementing until after Drupal.org is running a current version of Drupal.

kristen polThanks for the explanation. Makes sense. I didn’t check if we could clone events and I’m on my phone so I’ll check later but that would be a nice stopgap. Since then an old one can be cloned and just the dates adjusted.
