How do you update from 5.5 to 5.7 using the wiki installation profile? Are there plants to port Drupal 6 to the wiki installation profile?

I tried to upgrade to Drupal 5.7 using standard Drupal core, but royally scrambled my database and had to revert around 2000 pages by hand, my fault, but I would like to do it right this time. I am guessing this is not the right way?

Any links to documentation or tutorials would be very helpful, I can't find them anywhere.

Still having no luck with upgrading, is it possible that this is not an installation profile issue? Any help is appreciated.
