I have users who claim they cannot their own comments -- or who can only edit their comments for a short period of time after they are created. This behaviour has been reported to me several times.

The users have the following access rights:

access comments
post comments
post comments without approval

Has anyone else experienced this?

I can verify this. As a regular user I:

- CANNOT edit my own forum comment
- CAN edit my own blog comment
- CAN edit an image comment

Weird.

maybe it has sth to do with fact, that you cant edit your comment if anyone replied to it? because if you could edit and therefore delete your comment, you could delete whole thread beneath it?

1. login as regular user
2. add comment
3. confirm that you can edit your comment
4. login as another user
5. make a reply to "regular" user comment
6. login again as "regular" and confirm that you cannot edit your previous comment

The reason is that you can't edit comments that were already replied.
