I couldn't find anything to do with "images" on the "By task" Admin menu (I used my Browser search to look for the text on the page). I eventually found "images" under Media.

  1. The Media description "Media tools" should mention what those tools are (eg. Files, Images). Likewise Web services should mention RSS on the next line
  2. It would be better if all the Admin "By task" links, also showed the Submenu options on the next line. I'm going to be very frustrated having to click the main menu items first, and then click the submenu item. eg.

Yes, I think it's safe to say that page is still a work in progress in D7 :) It needs to show more links in order to be useful as a sitewide index.

I'm moving this to the correct queue, and also copying the status over from #699848: admin/by-task is confusing since it lacks links to config pages and looks similar to admin/config and friends (which I am going to mark as a duplicate of this).

Going to close this issue. David is wrong #699848: admin/by-task is confusing since it lacks links to config pages and looks similar to admin/config and friends is the follow up of #652122: Fix dashboard as the default /admin local task and has also been hotlinked on other places, therefor using this issue - would only cause confusion. To be clear, one should not choose issue 1 over two because one has a better initial issue, or is 2 days older - one should chose an issue because its more listened to or linked to. (activity over rules, other standards)

Beside that we first need a proper index page, and that is what the other issue intends to do.
