To order stickies, we must change the publish date of the stickies to stack them in the desired order. What is needed is to be able to order stickies regardless of publish date and maintain the original publish date.

>> If sticky is checkboxed then what order, with dropdown selector.

The problem is that when we change the publish date of the sticky-node-page then it rolls to the front of the RSS feed and this interupts the desired order of the feed. It makes us change the publish date to manage stickies which is not the actual publish date of the sticky-node-page but of the date when we ordered the stickies.

Title: Make Sticky Order Optionally Independent of Publish Date » Make Sticky Order Independent of Publish Date

Agree!
In what directory/file does the "sticky stuff" bit of code hide? I suppose it shouldn't be to hard to change "order by date" to "order by weight", although I did not find the weight option in the content I want to manage.... :(

Version: 6.9 » 7.x-dev
Status: Active » Closed (won't fix)
Issue tags: -RSS, -sticky, -order

Several things. First of all, feature requests should be filed against the latest development version (7.x). Secondly, this kind of functionality is un-likely to hit core at this time. flag is a wonderful way to achieve the desired effect. It integrates with views so that you can build the needed lists and rss feeds.

Will need to install and test Flag module with extensive Views integration to understand the simplicity/complexity of usability for the business owner/end-user-admin.

Apologies for not filing correctly...thought I had, but will rereview the issues queue handbook. The only version selection available is 7.x-dev...but will try to figure out where I made error. (after looking for 10 sec, I see that I put it against the current version I was working with D6.9 and should always add feature requests to the latest development version, however, if tagged as 'will not fix', then does that mean it will never be considered?)

No problem on not fixing. Just wanted to note the issue for consideration as a core feature someday in the future possibly.

My arguement would be since sticky and the 'frontpage content roller' are part of DC it would make sense to include a weight field beside the sticky checkbox.

A weight field by the sticky box would be sweet. Going to change my post dates now. Google finds this regardless of the thread drift and loves old posts. Sorry for adding this here. Just sayin'
