| mherchel | :sunrise: Good morning! |
| Sarah Corbine | Good morning. |
| thejimbirch | Happy Morning time |
| Andy | |
| cathwaldron | Good morning  |
| shaal | Good morning :blob_wave: |
| mtift | The META issue is here: #3177296: [META] Make Olivero stable |
| mherchel | We're still stable :stuck_out_tongue: Shortlist priorities include this one #3250357: Olivero: Elements within main content that have a high z-index will appear in front of mobile nav |
| mherchel | and it looks like there's a 10.0.x branch out! I hope to start ripping out some IE11 things on that |
| mherchel | Does anyone here have any time to start ripping things out? There's things like old polyfills etc. But the things highest on my list are removing the compilation of CSS variables |
| Sarah Corbine | Are there tickets for the polyfill stuff? I’m not seeing anything on #3177296: [META] Make Olivero stable |
| mherchel | Not yet. We need to create a meta issue. And then we can start creating sub issues :slightly_smiling_face: |
| mtift | This thread is the place to bring up specific issues that need some extra discussion |
| mherchel | I don't have anything specific here. Anyone else? |
| mtift | Share your suggestions here |
| cathwaldron | I will try to look at the two z-index issues and may then ask for help to properly contribute any progress or solution. |
| mtift | We have been doing these meetings for a few years, and they have served us well |
| mtift | However, recent meetings (including this one) have not consisted of much discussion |
| mtift | I'm not sure if these are providing value to people and I'm thinking about stopping them |
| mherchel | I'm indifferent. I don't get much value out of it, but if other folks do, I'm more than happy to continue having them |
| Andy | I think the biggest benefit these meetings have right now is a periodic reminder that there is still work to be done, and providing space for Mike to outline what needs prioritized (edited) |
| Andy | I don’t know that a full meeting of this type is needed, but I do think it would be valuable to have a weekly/bi-weekly “Here’s what we still need to focus on” |
| thejimbirch | I agree with Andy. I like to see the In progress, needs review, upcoming aspect information that you don't see in the issue queue. |
| mtift | Other options I've considered are (1) just a weekly "office hours" kind of thing where perhaps Mike would just be available to answer questions (I haven't asked Mike about this :slightly_smiling_face:) , (2) monthly or bi-monthly meetings, and (3) just posting more in the Slack channel to point folks to issues the need help |
| mtift | For the record, I, too, am fine continuing with them if others are getting benefit |
| mherchel | :man-shrugging: I'm up for whatever |
| Andy | @mtift maybe pop a poll into the channel (not this thread) and let it sit for a few days? |
| mtift | Sure, I could do that |
| thejimbirch | That being said, I see that there hasn't been much activity in these meetings. I tend to agree with Mr Tift. I like the approch of #3, just a weekly status message would probably be enough. |
| mherchel | DR Tift  |
| thejimbirch | OH! |
| mherchel | He didn't go to evil medical school for nothing |
| thejimbirch | Many apologies! |
| mherchel | hahaha |
| thejimbirch | ^ evil laugh ^^ |
| cathwaldron | As a newcomer I find it valuable to know where I might be able to help. Often by the time I look at something, it has already been completed by someone else, but then I can see what was done and learn from it. Since Okivero will be the default, this team is well positioned for newcomers to grasp the issues and learn how to become involved. But I can see this also is possibly a drag on the team. |
| mherchel | I don't feel its a drag |
| mherchel | and one of the goals of these meetings is to help onboard new contributors |
| mtift | Has that happened recently? ^^ |
| Andy | |
| mherchel | I'd say yeah |
| mherchel | but there's less to be done now since we've reached stable |
| mherchel | but that's also going to change as there's a lot of things do do for D10 |
| mherchel | ripping out IE is going to be a big chore and a lot of our improvements are going to depend on that |
| cathwaldron | We newcomers lurk and try to learn, the impact is larger than just those brave enough to wave  and attempt to navigate the contribution steps. But monthly frequency might be fine, for all the purposes mentioned. |
| mtift | @mherchel It seems like you are providing the most value here. How would you feel about just posting a status update at this time every other week, mentioning places where people can help, and offering to answer questions? Basically what we do now without an official agenda. We could call it "Olivero office hours." That seems like it might be more inviting. If that slows contributions or have any other negative effects, we can bring back the regular cadence of these meetings. |
| mherchel | @mtift that sounds good to me! Maybe we can keep the same cadence, but make it more of an "office hours" thing that was suggested before |
| mherchel | keep the same time/place etc. |
| mherchel | But stop doing the meeting notes and Drupal.org issues |
| mherchel | thoughts? |
| mtift | I like the idea of literally "not having an agenda" :slightly_smiling_face: |
| thejimbirch | Will this slack ever turn back to the free version with messages going away? |
| thejimbirch | If not, I like not taking notes and passing them to d.o issues is fine. |
| mherchel | good question |
| thejimbirch | I'm not sure how it came about, whether it was just the pandemic, or some other open-source goodwill... |
| Andy | if only we knew someone on the DA |
| mtift | Well, ideally Olivero work is documented in the actual issues |
| mtift | I think the idea with the office hours is to help people fill in gaps from the issue queue |
