When you add a User: Name (autocomplete) exposed filter to a view:

  • If you set a description in the filter configuration, that is used as help text for the widget.
  • Otherwise, 'Enter a comma separated list of user names.' is used as help text

There is no way to just leave the widget with no help text. The default value is unnecessary, as the filter description field lets the user handle that.
