Hello, I was extending AliasStorage to create a similar functionality, and found a select query that wasn't used the const TABLE = 'url_alias'; value, and that way ignoring my new table. I've just remade that line so it uses that constant.

This was resolved when path alias became entities. That was done in Drupal 8.8.x, in #2336597: Convert path aliases to full featured entities.
