xjmI'm not sure about this proposed design element. See feedback on #2732443-34: Finalize the behavior for triggering view/edit/build modes from the toolbar (and fix the "disappearing toolbar"). Also, I think it's actually highly misleading to say that that particular path is what's being edited, since the things you configure change those elements across your site.
Posted a couple related issues for making it clearer what is being edited (which element, not which path, because a single path is not a thing you can edit):

That is true, but when this came up in review it was noted that we should call the users attention to instances in which they are editing something that is global rather than particular to the page with an alert.

xjmCurrently every single thing you can edit with Outside In changes more than the current page. It's the 80% case in Drupal. So we should not design for an assumption of the 20% case.
(Informing the user that they are changing more than one page with some sort of on-screen message -- not an alert -- sounds important, like a separate "must" or "should" followup I think. Edit: I added a note to the summary of the meta for that separate issue.)

tkoleary commentedDesign in #2783509: Outside In's "Edit" toggle lets you do just about everything except edit your content #comment-11525927 removes the need for this. Postponed on implementation of that design. We can close if it lands.
