I have re-ordered manually many times using the drag-drop method but to no avail. I have changed weights both from the edit menu interface and directly in the view, to no avail. I can successfully re-order the main menu items, but sub-menu items always display based on creation date.

Hmm, can't reproduce this locally at the moment. Is there some sort of extra menu module enable for the dropdown, or is that custom?

Thanks for mentioning that. I should have said that I'm using Superfish for the menu. It never occurred to me that this might be a Superfish issue because I assumed Superfish used the core menu for populating. If it is indeed a Superfish problem, please accept my apology.

No worries, it's good to know there's an extra module involved, I'll try testing with that one and see if I can reproduce the problem with that. If so, we can move this issue to that project.
