Recently build website with Drupal 7.34-dev.
I have added several contributed modules, but the version numbers are not showing on the module list.
see attached screenshot.

Were the modules added to the site via a Git checkout from drupal.org (rather than downloading the packaged files)?

If so, you probably need https://www.drupal.org/project/git_deploy in order for the version information to show up.
