Hi everyone,

Tried to find answer to this question, but no results. If this is a duplicate, sorry and please point me to the correct issue.

Here is my drupal user registration configuration:
- user define it's password on user registration page
- he receives a mail with a link to confirm it's email address

The problem is, when the mail doesn't get delivered (spam box, SMTP server error, delete mistake), it's not possible for the user to get this email again.

If he goes to the page 'Ask for a new password', drupal says that the email adress is not recognized as a user or email.
If he tries to register again with the same email, it says it's already registered in the database ?!
When I go in the admin section, I can see that the user exist, with the status "Blocked".

Is there any simple way to do this? Make the blocked user being able to ask for a new confirmation email when they never accessed the website?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Matthieu

Hello Matthieu,

Looking at your issue, I noticed this:

When I go in the admin section, I can see that the user exist, with the status "Blocked".

This actually means that the 'admin', or administrator', should manually set the status to 'Active.' In order to do this, you have to click edit, under Operations, then set the Status to 'Active.' Save your settings then the 'user' will receive an email confirmation with a link to set their password. If ever they accidentally deleted the email or if it went to spam, they can now click Request new password and would receive an email.

However, this will not work according to your Drupal User Registration Configuration. I don't know if something is missing to your configuration but what you want to do is this:

  1. Who can register accounts? -- Visitors
  2. Require e-mail verification when visitor creates an account. -- Checked
  3. Save Configuration

This should do the work for you. I attached a screenshot of how it looks like. Let us know if this problem still persist. Thank you!

Hi wehehehek,

Sorry, I didn't see your answer, that's why it took me so long to reply.

I'm not new to drupal and of course I know I can activate an account through the admin panel, thanks anyway :)

The problem is, when they deleted the confirmation mail or it went into their spam box, that means I need to fix this manually (go into the admin panel and activate them).
I want the user to be able to ask for a new password on their own (i.e. automatically, without me doing any action).

I don't think it's actually possible after checking the code and the db, because everything is stocked in the column "status" of the table "user":
- when you create an account, it's set to 0
- when you activate it, it's set to 1
- when you block an account, it goes back to 0

Which means, if you blocked an account (because he was spamming your website with ads comments for example), you don't want him to be able to ask for a new password!
So the problem is that user not initialized are considered as blocked user.

So there is no solution to my problem, except fixing my SMTP problems so mails that we send aren't considered as spam....

Thanks for your explanation anyway!

Matthieu
