I'm attempting to update a project from 8.x-2.0-alpha3 to 8.x-2.0-alpha4. When running composer update drupal/dropzone.js, the process runs fine at first, but then returns: Nothing to install or update.
So, this was tried: composer require 'drupal/dropzonejs:^2.0.0-alpha4', which returned:
Your requirements could not be resolved to an installable set of packages.
Problem 1
- drupal/dropzonejs_eb_widget 2.0.0-alpha3 requires drupal/dropzonejs 2.0.0-alpha3 -> satisfiable by drupal/dropzonejs[2.0.0-alpha3] but these conflict with your requirements or minimum-stability.
- drupal/dropzonejs_eb_widget 2.0.0-alpha3 requires drupal/dropzonejs 2.0.0-alpha3 -> satisfiable by drupal/dropzonejs[2.0.0-alpha3] but these conflict with your requirements or minimum-stability.
- drupal/dropzonejs_eb_widget 2.0.0-alpha3 requires drupal/dropzonejs 2.0.0-alpha3 -> satisfiable by drupal/dropzonejs[2.0.0-alpha3] but these conflict with your requirements or minimum-stability.
- Installation request for drupal/dropzonejs_eb_widget (locked at 2.0.0-alpha3) -> satisfiable by drupal/dropzonejs_eb_widget[2.0.0-alpha3].
Installation failed, reverting ./composer.json to its original content.
To check another method: composer update drupal/dropzonejs --with-dependencies, which returned Nothing to install or update.
So, what's next to try?

karolus commentedDid some more checking, including running this per the release notes: `composer require 'drupal/dropzonejs:^2.0'`.
This still didn't update, so tried one more thing: manually editing the composer.lock to change the version from alpha3 to alpha4. This created some warnings on the datestamp issues, and suggested to redownload the module files, which was done.
Module then successfully updated.

mmjvb commentedNothing to do with dropzonejs, find out what would prevent the desired version with prohibits. Take away what is blocking, in my case the version constraint on alpha3. Update with dependencies

grantkrugerThe hack by karolus worked for me too when I got the exact same problem, a prohibit issue with dropzonejs_eb_widget which to me is in this same module and therefore is a valid issue here.
Comment #7
grantkrugerI hit the same problem when I tried moving from 8.x-1.0-alpha9 to 8.x-2.0, but where the old fix caused an error when running
composer validate. As before mmjvb's suggestion for use ofcomposer prohibitsdid not help me. This time karolus' fix that worked for me before now caused a composer error when runningcomposer validate. In the end what worked for me was removing all references to dropzonejs (and enyo) from mycomposer.jsonfile and then runningcomposer require 'drupal/dropzonejs:^2.0'which reset all of the composer settings to something that I could verify worked and that passed acomposer validate.Comment #8
ruslan piskarovFind "
drupal/dropzonejs_eb_widget" section in composer.lock and remove.After run:
composer require drupal/dropzonejs.Comment #9
oleksandr.s commentedIn my case 3 following steps helped:
1.
composer remove drupal/dropzonejs2.
composer remove drupal/dropzonejs_eb_widget3.
composer require drupal/dropzonejsAs result newer version of dropzonejs was installed.
