Entire blocks disappear - best karma users, Best scoops, Top published in current category, Top upcoming in current category, and Categories, when Views are enabled. I was trying to get the Flag module working (for bookmarking), and it needed Views to work. As soon as I enabled Views, the blocks disappeared.

What's going on? Has anyone experienced the same thing with Views?

Title: Is Drigg incompatible with Views? 5+ Blocks *DISAPPEAR* when enabled » Blocks *DISAPPEAR* when making changes to module page
Priority: Normal » Critical

My original question was whether Views is incompatible with Drigg, but now apparently doing *anything* to the modules page causes the blocks to disappear. Whether it's disabling existing modules or enabling new modules, the blocks disappear. Any idea what's going on and what's causing it?

This is a serious issue, help :-(

Is your database up to date?

What do you mean by up to date? (You mean under Status Report? That says up to date.)

I've been working on it the entire night and have exhausted almost anything my brain could come up with:

- Clearing all cache tables (seems to cure other issues, but not this one)
- Optimized the tables in phpmyadmin (well not sure if this does anything, but I tried anyways)
- Making changes when site maintenance is disabled (I had enabled it earlier)
- Deleting unused tables for some modules that have been disabled (doesn't seem to make a diff)
- Configuring individual blocks (that ones that keep disappearing) to allow all roles to view it (I ticked all of them just incase)
- Trying different db backups from earlier dates (I have one as far as Dec 12, and the issues still persists with my backups)

And the mind-boggling thing? The db that I have LIVE actually works locally - as in, the blocks don't disappear, and I can enable modules just fine. Same db, same files, but doesn't work live.

*sigh* I'm stumped.

:(

Mysteriously fixed by itself. Unsettling, but works now!

Hi,

Wooops... I am a bit late. But... I have no idea why that would happen!

I just had a similar problem, while tinkering with the CSS files for theming.

Everything was going fine - deleting, then re-uploading base.css to my server, when after the umpteenth time I lost track of the fact that base.css had already been deleted. Instead, I inadvertently told my server to delete blocks.css instead. It promptly did, my blocks were gone of course, and when I reuploaded a copy of blocks.css (as well as the base.css I had intended to add)... the blocks were still gone (alright, they were still there, but the formatting for them was lost). Tried several times, and I'm not caching anything so it can't be that. I made sure local caching was off, but the problem remained. I'm using the latest version of Drigg for Drupal 5 (drigg 5.x-1.36). I'm hoping that the problem will fix itself as well - all the files are there. Oh, went to the 4plus theme temporarily - which was fine, except I'd been using drigg's default theme - and then went back to the default. Still no blocks.

I realize you're not very familiar with CSS, Merc. This would seem to be only incidentally related, perhaps more likely a host caching I'm not aware of, or a database hiccup caused by the temporarily missing file.
Hope you're well, and I was sorry to hear of your discouragement with Drigg. It really is amazing, and you should be proud to have created it.
