I believe some other voting modules allow anonymous voting. Since you mentionned in our other discussion thread about EVB that Drigg supports other voting modules I tried looking into that. However, I can't find how to do it anywhere.
Can you post a pointer ? Thanks

mercmobily commentedHi,
* Any voting module that uses the VotingApi should be compatible with Drigg. So, look for a voting module in Drupal that accepts anonymous voting. Sorry, can't help you here.
* You will need to know exactly what kind of votes your widget adds. In particular: The content type (normally "node"), the value type (normally "points") and the tag (normally "vote")
* If you go to Admin -> Settings -> Drigg, and set these three values.
* In your theme, add the required script snipset for the other voting form. It will differ to what's required by extra_voting_forms
* In Admin -> Settings -> Drigg Look (Soon to become Admin -> Settings -> Drigg -> Drigg Users), change the settings for the php code to display the voting form. That code will be used in the "users" tab. Drigg is voting-form-agnostic, and therefore needs to know how to render it
* Try it out and see what happens.
This is as far as I am able to go with help. It should be enough information to get through it, if you have enough Drupal experience. If you don't... it will be nearly impossible for me to help much more (it would be _immensely_ time consuming).
If you DO manage, it would be *great* if you wrote a short tutorial on how to do it!
I strongly advise against anonymous voting.
Bye,
Merc.

PGiro commentedOk got it. Will write a tutorial once it's done.
As for anonymous voting, I understand the rationale. I do see it as a way to entice people to vote because very few people bother to register in order to vote at the current stage of my drigg install...

mercmobily commentedHi,
Please let me know how it goes. I am going to close this issue, but please reopen it if you have any more questions.
A tutorial would be _fantastic_, really.
I also wonder if I should indeed allow anonymous voting in extra_voting_forms, and indeed wonder how it would work (the VotingAPI doesn't seem to allow it, but I am obviously wrong...)
Bye!
Merc.

PGiro commentedHi Merc, I haven't moved forward on this because after going through VotingAPI stuff I realized that the anonymous voting didn't work the way I wanted. Because votes only get assigned to user_ids, only one anonymous vote can be held even though the votingAPI sotres the IP the vote was done from.
I think some work will need to be done in VotingAPI before it can be useful.
Been working on other things though so I am less into this at the moment!

PGiro commentedI've done it on a site about funny bad day stories. It's very easy with vote_up_down.
I simply
vote_up_down.moduleand activated ittemplate.phpthe contents of thetemplate.phpin vote_up_downprint display_extra_voting_formsin node-drigg.tpl.php by a call to display the vote_up_downI'll write it step by step this evening

PGiro commentedChanging ExtraVotingForms to allow anonymous voting is really easier, see http://drupal.org/node/335617
