mercmobily commentedHi,
Sorry, but I don't agree with this. The main problem is that there is no current way, in drigg, to do something like "are you sure that mysite.com isnt the same?". An URL is either already there, or not. There is an error, or there isn't.
Also, I don't think it's actually *that* likely that this will actually happen. We have been running fsdaily for about 9 months, with about 1 million page views per month, and this has _never_ been a problem...

Lausch commentedi know what you mean. my friend runned a pligg site for some month.
they have disscussed about many websites.
many users posted domain.com and many users www.domain.com this was bad.
what about a checkbox
include www. ?

duntuk commentedi don't know, this doesn't sound like it's too difficult to implement...
just have the backend do a wildcard search; e.g. "($)website.com/story"... then if a match is found, print out the results in a list so the user can verify if the link actually exists or not (by looking at this list)... and let him or her decide whether to go ahead and post it
e.g.
This seems like a duplicate story, are you sure you want to post it?
Below are possible matches:
[printed list]
[button "Post it"] [button "Forget it"]

mercmobily commentedHi,
Complete, working patches are most welcome...
(It is difficult to implement, BTW)
