Test:

Drupal version: 8.3

Double field: boolean and text.

Second (text) field display and form display: OK!

First (boolean) field display ok, but the form display wrong!

First field form display a text field. (Correct appearance checkbox)

Widget only checkbox, but I save it again.

That's how it works.

If select boolean then why not form display formatter is default checkbox?

It's explained in the issue I referenced. Btw, did you see a notice when changed field settings?

I did not make the field. I tried to fix the problem.
So far, I have not used the double field yet.
I already see that there is really a warning when creating a field.
