I changed line 18 from :

    drupal_goto(variable_get('doorman_login_page', DOORMAN_DEFAULT_LOGIN_PAGE));

to:

drupal_goto(variable_get('doorman_login_page', DOORMAN_DEFAULT_LOGIN_PAGE),
      array('query' => array('destination' => $_GET['q'])));

And now doorman will respect the destination parameter in the URL if it exists. This allows a user to be passed on to their intended destination if they were to click on a link given to them but they were not yet logged in.

It looks like the code you're using is the 'master' branch, which is outdated.
This feature exists in the 7.x-1.x branch - it was added in commit a91f41df77324693cbf1e9abe9e6d953840e3e23.

The branches are probably a bit confusing - I'll empty the master branch and leave a README to check out the 7.x-1.x branch instead.
