The mockup at http://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/prototype/docume... shows the redesigned landing page for documentation. Was this list generated with the documentation team? If not do you plan on using it or come up with a different list?

There is also a new list of handbooks outlined in the Documentation section here: http://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/prototype/getsta...

Both of these lists are also copied below for reference.

Each handbook

For the time-being we are going to move ahead keeping the organization of books that we currently have. The prototype did not do any real IA work and until we get a chance to do that we should just leave be, or we will end up needing to move things around twice. So ignore the prototype lists and just use the existing handbooks.

add1sun can I change the status of your responses? I will assume a YES, thus this seems to be a "postponed" until the IA edit in the next few weeks can review this?

add1sun, please email me, respond to this, or contact me on IRC if my assumption is incorrect.

This looks like a duplicate of http://drupal.org/node/199388, which has much more discussion, so I am closing this issue as a duplicate. OK?

Confirmed #199388: Documentation lacks an information architecture is a duplicate.

Because the documentation IA, and migration process is so enormous, it won't be a requirement for launching. We'll readjust to keep the documentation as close to the live version as possible.

Here is a first pass at this, for the Doc landing pages, I haven't seen anything in Boulton's design that would require little more than paragraphs being trimmed away to accommodate some of the organization changes that he suggests. Also, I know that the tabs at the top cannot function, at this time, as the prototype suggests however, would we be able to merely insert a menu that links between the Documentation and API sections of the site that is styled to look like tabs? I think that by doing this we will be able to lay a better foundation for what will eventually be the functionality depicted by Boulton's designs.

Before you ask, I did already try setting the paragraphs laterally and they look less important. If people don't mind, I would like to eventually share an in between compromise between what I see as Boulton's intentions and what is possible by either removing or reorganizing the existing content.

@hanzouzach thanks for taking time on this, but this issue is closed because it is a duplicate of #199388: Documentation lacks an information architecture, which is currently postponed since we are completely redoing the IA for the documentation, which Mark Boulton doesn't really address in the mocks. The items on the landing page for docs will probably be a bit different and not use our current listing.

@add1sun I am confused then, I had been assigned to building comps for the API and the documentation pages per (http://groups.drupal.org/node/18940). Would you be able to tell me what, where or if, I should posting these things? Thank you.

Urg, I'm sorry that no one checked with the doc team on this first, but we should try to hold off on all prototypes for the handbooks until we have a better idea of what the new IA will look like and need. :-/ Unfortunately, I'd recommend that you get assigned to another area of the redesign for the time-being. If a time comes where the redesign will be launched before we have the new docs.drupal.org ready to go, then we can reopen and address this for the existing handbooks.
