As part of the Design Initiative goals we want to improve the documentation for designers and UX professionals. While this goal is not explicitly stated, improving the overall designer-experience within d.o is part and parcel of the overall initiative goals.
Currently http://drupal.org/contribute nor http://drupal.org/contribute/development have nothing along these lines so we need to add these docs so designers and UX peeps have a reference for how they can contribute and what the guidelines for these contributions are (current open issue on this wrt core: #1150702: d8ux workflow for UI changes
We need a couple of strong UX and Design contributors to help work on these docs, start getting some drafts together and possible even organize some sprints.

Jeff Burnz commentedI opened a Google doc for http://drupal.org/contribute - basically a sub-section on that page which will link to a new page for Design and UX where we'll stick the actual information.

BTW: is there an issue about this /contribute section, for example the /contribute/themes page is orphaned and I can't even edit it. EDIT: opened an issue #1150800: contribute/themes is orphaned

arianek commentedI've dealt with #1150800: contribute/themes is orphaned for now and opened a new issue about adding a proper contribute to themes page/section on #1151138: Need to create a new Contributing to Themes page.. It would be great to have something for design/UX as well, but at the moment there isn't anyone I'm aware of on the docs team who's got a particular interest in this, so you/we will need to find some volunteers for sure!
Best to get whatever's into the google doc onto d.o as quickly as possible - that's where docs folks usually feel comfortable editing content, even if it's not quite done.
There isn't a particular issue but Lisa Rex just happens to be working on a content audit including that section plus any other non-docs content on d.o, so I'm going to tag this so she sees it!
If you'd like to propose this as part of the June sprint, just say the word, but ideally there'd need to be at least a couple people wanting to work on the issue.

Jeff Burnz commentedI am on the docs team and can definitely help write the theme stuff and probably a big chunk of the design/ux contribute guide as well.
What I was hoping to do was get the basic planning for the new guides worked out and organize some sprints for the two Drupal Design Camps in June (Berlin and Boston, run concurrently 25/26th June). I'll be in Berlin and can run a sprint there, have to organize someone for the Boston Camp to take up the challenge on that side of the Atlantic:)
