I have installed ddblock for drupal 7 and downloaded the d7 version of the themes

I don't understand the difference between adding a block under the "List" tab "Add dynamic display block." and adding an instance under the "Instances" tab "Add Instance"... either way, they end up listed as "Dynamic Display Blocks" under the "List" tab.

If I "Configure Block" on the first block created as "Add dynamic display block" it looks fine, so far as I can tell.
If I "Configure Block" on the second block created as "Add Instance" I get:
16 instances of: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in form_select_options() (line 2551 of /home/mysite/public_html/drupal7/includes/form.inc).
and 32 instances of: Notice: Undefined variable: source_fields in ddblock_form_alter() (line 1058 of /home/rbrgrcom/public_html/drupal7/sites/all/modules/ddblock/ddblock.module).

By adding a ddblock via the list tab you add a basic ddblock.
By adding a ddblock via the instance tab you add an advanced ddblock, which is in most cases an instance of a views block.

Documentation for ddblock version 7 is in progress.

You can have a look at the advanced slideshow tutorial for ddblock drupal 6.

The difference between drupal 6 version and drupal 7 version is that no preprocess functions are used anymore in the overall theme for the ddblock functionality.
This is replaced by mapping of views fields to slideshow theme fields in the ddblock configuration page for instances of views_blocks.
Themed field data is used instead of raw data from the fields.

Hope this helps you further, please let me know.

Ok. It would be helpful (after your list of other things to do gets shorter, of course... : ) to have that distinction show in the "Dynamic Display Blocks" list. Maybe have a column with "Basic" or "Advanced" for each block.

In the "basic" block that I created there was no apparent way to select a theme, is this correct?

I'll try creating a view block and experiment with that.

Thanks
Steve R.

I assume that the 16 and 32 errors on the "Advanced" block had to do with the 16 blank Field Mapping entries?

Basic ddblock don't have a slideshow theme option
Warnings and notices come probably from not configuring an instance of a views_block.

Please let me know if these warnings and notices still appear when the ddblock instance is configured for a views block.

I'm getting there...
Right now I find I cannot clear/delete the old ddblocks. The Dynamic Display Block lists are empty (I deleted the two old ones), cleared server and client caches, made sure the blocks don't appear on the Block configuration page, yet the Basic block is still showing up.
Do I need to clear it in the database? If so, how do I do this?
This may best be a new issue...
Thanks.
