Here's a patch that checks for recurring before asking for the occurrences.

I think its fine that non recurring values get occurrences, to allow the template to generate consistent output whether or not the value is recurring.

Lets fix #2991527: preSave() call to getHelper() assumes RRule exists by adding a dummy helper in #2993554: Non recurring date values
