Users should be able to define the date format for URL aliases generated by pathauto.

Currently, date fields result always in e.g. /06-10-2006-10-00/. A support for what parts of dates should be used for paths would be useful, e.g. [field_date:%Y] to use only the year.

I don't know anything about pathauto or what should happen at that url or anything else about what the date module would need to do for this to work as you expect, so I need someone who knows pathauto to supply a patch and an explanation of what it will do.
