Just downloaded the 2.0 version. Navigating to update.php results in
user warning: Table 'site_x.date_format_types' doesn't exist query: SELECT dft.type, dft.title, dft.locked FROM date_format_types dft ORDER BY dft.title in /home/clemens/projects/x/trunk/code/drupal/sites/all/modules/date/date_api.module on line 1925.
and an access denied

karens commentedYou have to run the update and apparently you don't have rights to do so. The Date module doesn't control access to the update page, that's done by core. Only User #1 can run updates and updates need to be run any time you update *any* module code so you should certainly have a way to do it. So this is neither a Date issue nor a bug
You'll see the message until the update is run. I could hide the message, but then you wouldn't realize you need an update.

clemens.tolboomPartly my mistake .. I can run update.php. But the message still remains until after running update.php twice

salaDDodger commentedAm getting the same error when navigating to update.php
user warning: Table 'drupal.date_format_types' doesn't exist query: SELECT dft.type, dft.title, dft.locked FROM date_format_types dft ORDER BY dft.title in /srv/www/htdocs/drupal/modules/date/date_api.module on line 1925.I am running as user #1, when I click to continue the same error is displayed together with a large number of inserts into the same non-existing table.
I also get the following notification
date module cannot be updated until after Views has been updated. Please return to update.php and run the remaining updates. This is strange as my site does not use the Views modules.
The report from the update is as follows
Been using the RC's with no issues to report.
clemens.tolboomI ran update.php twice to get a stable system back.
salaDDodger commentedRan update script multiple times, still no joy.
les limThis looks like a probable duplicate of #386124: User warning: table 'date_format_types' not exist when upgrading from 6.x-2.0-rc6 to 6.x-2.0. Try downloading and installing 6.x-2.x-dev instead of 6.x-2.0.

salaDDodger commentedThanks, installed 6.x-2.x-dev, took two runs of update.php but worked fine, then installed 6.x-2.0 and run update.php with no errors so back with stable system.
