When I upgraded the module from 1.6 to 1.7, my views with a datestamp argument stopped working.

I changed this code IN function **date_views_date_range** to make it work again:
+ $min_date = date_unset_granularity($min_date, date_granularity_array($field), DATE_ISO);
+ $max_date = date_unset_granularity($max_date, date_granularity_array($field), DATE_ISO);

- $min_date = date_unset_granularity($min_date, date_granularity_array($field), $field['type']);
- $max_date = date_unset_granularity($max_date, date_granularity_array($field), $field['type']);

I'm not familiar enough with the date project to know if this is the right fix or not, but it worked for me.

I'm going to assume this is a part of the same problem as http://drupal.org/node/189093, so track that issue for a fix.
