I get this error while trying to edit content internet explorer while using panels. Content also does not display correctly.

Invalid argument.

Ajax-responder.js Line:238
Code:0 Char:5

website/sites/modules/ctools/js/ajax-responder.js/v

It seems to work right and display right in firefox however.
It's not a theme issue because if I which themes I get the same errors.
Please help.

same here. IE8, XP. Not using Panels or similar, just the ctools ajax + dialog api. Works in all other browser.

Using the dev version, 1284163565

Iam going to debug this, lets see were it hides.

eventhough i found a bug, it seem not to be related to this, but rather to : http://drupal.org/node/979664
reseting issue status

Hi,
Setting this to active. Have pages using Drupal 6.20, panels 3.9 and ctools 1.8, and having same issue.
Internet explorer 8 on Windows XP, or Vista breaks my theme completely. It is just not shown like the theme is not enabled. Switching theme gives same behaviour, so no difference.

First I had .js error about:

Ajax-responder.js Line:350
Code:0 Char:5

I tried patch http://drupal.org/files/issues/ctools_4.patch, no .js error anymore, but no go. Still broken theme.
The theme is only broken on the ctools/panels pages, not on other pages.

Thanks a lot in advance for your reply!
greetings,
Martijn

Unfortunately, there is still not enough information for me to act on. Partial error messages with little or no context are impossible for me to actually do anything about. I sympathize that there are issues, but if you can't tell me how to duplicate the problem, nothing is going to happen.

Hi Earl,
I got this error on IE 8:

Hi Earl, This page itself breaks already: admin/build/pages/nojs/operation/node_view/handlers/node_view_panel_context/content.

Another thing is, that I made the ctools/panels pages using the stylizer? Is that may be a problem?

greetings, Martijn

Hi Earl, I updated to latest .dev ctools and latest .dev panels still have the problems on the admin/build/pages pages, especially the content page.
But I removed complete pages page with all variants and build it up again. Now I do not have the problem anymore with viewing the pages.
Same error on Internet Explorer 8 as stated in #9: http://drupal.org/node/802050#comment-3982882 on admin content page.
Greetings, Martijn

Just to be sure this does not get lost, my issue got solved as stated above. And panels works on my side with IE8 without issues.

summit’s picture

Hi, I make a new issue, because may be this issue is not related to the new one: http://drupal.org/node/1036588. Greetings, Martijn

I know the answer for the problem. It suddenly came to me. Internet Explorer has a limit on the number of css files. You must use css compression to 1 file. /admin/settings/performance

summit’s picture

Hi, Compression to 1 file didn't work for me.
I used the module unlimited_css (http://drupal.org/project/unlimited_css) That worked for me!
Still I had to remove uc_cart block first, with that one no method worked.

Maybe getting the same JS error in Chrome while popping up the Context selector in admin/build/pages/nojs/operation/my-panel/handlers/etc_panel_context

Uncaught TypeError: Object function (obj){
	        for(var i=0; i<this.length; i++){

The same issue does not occur with Safari, on the same site..

In Chrome, I also see an additional error:

Resource interpreted as stylesheet but transferred with MIME type text/html.

After tracing it.. I see:

undefined
<DOCTYPE .. etc. .. >

Not sure if this is the cause or a symptom.

I didn't know that IE had a limit on loading CSS files. Thank you dennisyd and Summit for this solution! I can stop pulling out what few hairs I have left on my head. Cheers!

This seems to be long-known issue with no solution over the long time. I am using the latest dev 6.x branch (from 29 july 2011) and confirm the issue still exists.
The problem hasn't been really outlined in any comments above and I tried all solutions with no success.

The problem isn't related to IE's limit in CSS files and in fact is related to Internet Explorer! does not support indexOf method for array's.

The error I was getting in IE only (7, 8, 9) while trying to use Dialog module for user login form (all other browsers worked fine:

This was causing the modal window to open but never populate with content.

The patch attached resolves the issue completely and has been confirmed to fork in my case across all versions of IE.

Please test this patch for your scenarios and maybe this could be implemented in the ctools module. If you have any feedback - please use my personal contact form, as I do not visit issue forums often.

The patch from #23 was very helpful with modal behavior in IE. I was seeing the modal come up for a second, disappear for 3-5 seconds, and then finally come up with content. This patch improved that, but it still seems to be a problem with IE9.

I took the liberty of re-rolling the patch using the latest git checkout of 6.x-1.x-dev. Same code with a git-format patch and a few spacing fixes.

nguyentran’s picture

Hello, How about patch for drupal 7

rjbrown99’s picture

My IE9 bug is actually fixed here: #1549934: IE9 bug causing 'flickering' of modal forms at initialisation. This was something else, but I thought I'd point out the proper fix for that issue.

rares’s picture

Patch at #23 solves the issue for me where the modal does not populate with content.

Am with #25, any fix for Drupal 7 for panels not displaying well on IE8
