http://drupal.org/project/issues/search/ctools?status[]=Open&version[]=7.x shows a number of issues, but none of them both active and critical.
Are there any blocking issues to creating a 1.0 release of this module? If so, could you tag them as D7 stable release blocker so we could try and get some helping hands on them? If not, is it possible to roll a stable release of this module? This is one of the top 50 projects, and the general lack of porting there is making D7 look scarier than it actually is.

webchickOops. Tagging.

merlinofchaos commentedI don't think any of the current issues are blocking a 1.0 release. The only real blocker has been my available time, which is currently not quite zero but fairly close to.
There are currently 4 RTBC issues, of which I'm pretty sure 3 will go in after I give them a once over.
There's a surprising number of 'needs review' items though, more than I had realized.

webchickRoger that, thanks! May the time fairies somehow bless you in the coming weeks. :)
I'm setting up a dashboard with a "how you can help" thing at http://drupalcontribstatus.com/. Sounds like "Review existing 7.x issues" would be a good thing to link to there.
webchickAnd that is not remotely a bug report; sorry, not sure how I managed to do that.
merlinofchaos commentedOh yes, some actual patch review would be fabulous!!

merlinofchaos commentedA trustworthy co-maintainer would probably help a lot too.
webchickIt's actually possible to adjust the terms on your project page to note "Seeking co-maintainer(s)". We don't yet have a great way of showing that information to would-be contributors en masse, but it would at least advertise it on the project page for people who go directly there.
merlinofchaos commentedI'm not sure I want to advertise quite like that. I'm a little twitchy about 'trustworthy' :)
webchickFair enough. :) Sounds like pointing people at the issue queue though is the best way for a worthy co-maintainer to emerge.

AdrianB commentedWould it be rude to ask for an update of the situation?
Back in September it was only time and not issues that was holding back a stable release, as far as I can tell. And reading #1277122: Blockers to a 7.x-3.0 release? suggest that the only important thing holding back Panels from leaving alpha and become stable is the 1.0 release of CTools.
greggles@AdrianB There are currently 8 critical issues in the queue. Reviewing those and getting the list to zero would help the release come sooner.
AdrianB commentedAh, I see, I just searched for the ones marked D7 stable release blocker and found none (other than this).
